Resources for teenage asylum seekers in Leeds

  • Help in Leeds is a directory of organisations in Leeds for refugees and asylum seekers. There is a category for children and young people which brings up organisations like Archway (who have an ESOL class for 16-25 year olds, as well as lots of other youth activities). There is a button on the bottom right of the page which translates the website which makes it easier for the young people to use it themselves.
  • Angel of Youths is a youth charity which supports young people to get involved in their community and realise their goals. The young people there volunteer together on projects and issues that matter to them. It would be a great way for the young people you work with to meet other British young people.
  • Learning English in Leeds is a pretty comprehensive list of all ESOL classes and groups in Leeds. However individual providers would need to be contacted about whether they had classes for 16-18 year olds.
  • Leeds Asylum Seekers’ Support Network A good organisation to contact about any support needs of Asylum seekers in Leeds
